We are pleased to announce that we opened our new theatre on March 1, 2013. The new theatre is located within AEON Mall Kasukabe in Kasukabe, Saitama. It is Japan’s first theatre to have been built “without the projection room” to play digital films, and the third theatre in Japan that is equipped with the D-BOX MFX seat which moves in synchronization with the onscreen action. 32 D-Box seats are installed in two auditoriums. It also contains a very large-format “ULTIRA” screen in its largest auditorium, which allows you to experience a powerful image and three-dimensional sound.
At this new theatre, you are able to use cash, credit card, e-money, and WAON card to pay for movie tickets at newly introduced automatic ticket vending machines. Projection system installed in 10 auditoriums, poster cases and signage are all made 100 percent digital, and we believe more enjoyable, various information will be appropriately delivered to our customers while waiting to go into the auditorium.
All of our 61 theatres 506 screens have shifted to digital by January this year. Digital theatres are capable of delivering more varieties of entertainment. Not only we broadcast ballet performances taking place in foreign places, concerts, and sports events live, the auditoriums can be rented by enterprises for presentations or for a wedding ceremony.
We started as a pioneering cinema complex operator in Japan with the opening of Japan’s first cinema complex in Ebina, Kanagawa in 1993. We have created our 20-year history together with Warner Bros. Entertainment Inc., and this spring, the company became a subsidiary wholly-owned by AEON Co., Ltd. In this same year, coincidentally, we are about to enter a new stage by changing from film-based operations to digital-based operations. This will change our profile from “cinema complex” to “media center” in the community.
We continue to have flexibility in adjusting to customer needs for entertainment, and exert further efforts to become a company that is loved and supported by the community.
